You know, this business of trying to keep track of all the recruiting news that goes on throughout the Southland can be maddening at times. For example, two days ago this blog hit the Internet about how Ricky Marvray had developed into a legitimate West Coast prospect, but was still undecided about his future.

Less than 48 hours later, everything changed. According to Rivals.com, the 6-foot receiver from Corona Centennial orally committed to UCLA, despite having scholarship offers from six other programs. My guess is, once Marvray received word the Bruins were interested, he figured none of the other schools mattered.

The first time Marvray made an appearance here on Varsity Times Insider was back in mid-June. Shortly thereafter, I had a long conversation with Centennial Coach Matt Logan and he said: ‘It’s just a matter of time before Ricky commits to a big-time school.’’ It looks like Logan was right about his senior playmaker.

Los Osos’ Richard Brehaut, Arcadia’s Todd Golper, Bishop Amat’s Sheldon Price and Mission Viejo’s Alex Mascarenas had already given their respective pledges to UCLA. And now, with the addition of the talented Marvray, it appears as if Rick Neuheisel‘s once thin 2009 recruiting class is shaping up rather nicely.
