We don’t get too much diving here on the blog, but I thought someone out in there would like to know a couple local divers will be representing their country later this month.

Three-time Southern Section Division II boys’ champion John Geyer, left, of La Canada and 2007 Division II girls’ champion Felicitas Lenz, right, of Pasadena Poly will compete at the FINA Junior World Championships in Aachen, Germany from Sept. 16 to 21.

Both did pretty well at the 2008 Speedo Junior National Championships last month and are among 16 Americans who will be competing at the world championships.

In addition, each are among the most-accomplished high school divers in the country. Geyer could become the second diver in Southern Section history to win four divisional titles next May. Lenz, and her younger sister, Cosima, have won the last two Division II titles.
