Dwight Chapman, who was the lead blocker for Anthony Davis on San Fernando’s 1970 City runner-up team and served as a football coach off and on for the Tigers for more than 20 years, died on Friday after a short illness. He was 55.

Chapman, who taught health at San Fernando, retired from coaching after directing the freshman-sophomore team last season. He is survived by his daughter, January. Funeral arrangements are pending.
