Servite started out slow, but there’s nothing like a 94-yard TD to wake you up. Thanks to Greg Portis’ 94-yard kickoff return, the Friars lead Edison, 13-10, at halftime at Cerritos College.

Servite looked a little sloppy in the first quarter (especially on defense), but it has found its stride and is making things interesting.

For awhile, it looked like Edison might run away with this thing. Unfortunately, for the Chargers, things have been a lot more complicated since Portis’ 44-yard TD run midway through the second quarter.

By the way, my live blog seems to have crashed, so I’ll be posting individual blogs from here on out. I wonder how many other Friday night football bloggers were using coveritlive.com before it went kablamo!
