John Pemberton, a former state high school football rules interpreter, said he has seen the video from last Saturday’s Westlake-Agoura game and concluded that a 41-yard field-goal attempt by Westlake kicker Stephen Murphy with 13 seconds left that was ruled no good should have been ruled as good.

Westlake lost, 23-22, but the video indicates the ball hit the gooseneck bar that supports the crossbar, making it successful. It’s too late to reverse the call, however. Judgment calls by the officials must be changed before they leave the field.
