Football: Mater Dei leads Servite, 27-21, at halftime

Thanks to a couple touchdowns runs by Jaron Hytche and a fumble recovery by Christian Maldonado, Mater Dei leads Servite, 27-21, at halftime out here at Cal State Fullerton. Mater Dei, coming off a loss two weeks ago against Edison, has looked very good on offense.

Hytche has a game-high 147 yards in nine carries, scoring TDs on runs of 24 and 11 yards. Fellow running back Jordan Allen scored Mater Dei’s latest TD on a nine-yard run. Quarterback Matt Barkley has completed 13 of 17 passes for 132 yards and two TDs.

Servite running back Greg Portis has tallied 138 yards and two TDs in 14 carries.
