‘I think they are the best 0-5 team in the nation, without a doubt.’

Gahr Coach Greg Marshall was talking to the Long Beach Press-Telegram last week about Dominguez, which is now 0-6 after dropping a 42-35 decision to Gahr Friday. The Dons have played a daunting schedule that includes St. George (Utah) Pine View, Fresno Edison, Compton, and Redlands East Valley, teams with a combined record of 25-2. Certainly, with four losses by a touchdown or less, Dominguez is better than its record.

But is Marshall right? One way of looking at the question is to take a look at the power ratings at Calpreps.com, a website I co-founded with Ned Freeman in 2001. Freeman’s computer ratings at Calpreps rank every team in the nation. According to those ratings, Dominguez ranks among the nation’s best winless teams, and is the top team on the list in the Western U.S.
