Football: Crespi’s Island out for rest of season

Crespi wide receiver Mikio Island will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury he suffered two weeks ago, reports Gerry Gittelson of the Daily News.

Island tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the Celts’ victory over Saugus on Oct. 10. Crespi Coach Jeremiah Ross told the Daily News that it ‘is a big blow to our family.’

Island is third in team receiving yards and averaged a team-best 33.75 yards per reception. He is also a standout track and field sprinter for Crespi.

Not having him in the lineup will complicate things when Crespi, ranked No. 4 by The Times, opens up Serra League play against No. 5 Notre Dame on Halloween night.
