Football: Los Alamitos improves to 7-0

Los Alamitos, ranked No. 19 by The Times, was able to come away with a 23-19 victory over Edison Thursday in a Sunset League game. Los Alamitos improves to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Sunset. Edison, ranked No. 6, drops to 5-2 and 1-1.

The Chargers lost three fumbles. Clark Evans of Los Alamitos completed 13 of 20 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored a touchdown.

With a 23-17 lead and 13 seconds left, Los Alamitos Coach John Barnes directed Evans to retreat to the end zone and take a safety. He lost 35 yards on the play, and the clock ran down to three seconds left.

After the kickoff, Edison got the ball on the Los Alamitos 45. Quarterback Matt Viles of Edison threw a final pass into the end zone, but it fell incomplete.
