It was only a matter of time before Loyola running back Anthony Barr broke off a long run, and it happened with 1:47 left in the second quarter. He raced 68 yards for a touchdown, giving the Cubs a 14-0 lead over No. 10-ranked Bishop Amat in a Serra League opener.

Barr also picked up a 15-yard penalty for excessive celebration, but I don’t think Coach Jeff Kearin was too upset. The usually quiet Barr showed he was into the game, an intensity level that has been used by Loyola’s defense to record four sacks.
