Well, it looks like another one of Southern California’s finest will be spending the new year down in San Antonio.

Corona Centennial senior middle linebacker and USC commit Vontaze Burfict was named the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl West Team on Monday afternoon. Burfict is considered one of the top linebackers in the nation and is a big reason why Centennial is considered a favorite -- along with Long Beach Poly -- to represent Southern California in the CIF Open Division State Bowl game at the Home Depot Center on Dec. 20.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is considered one of the nation’s top all-star games, featuring many of the top collegiate recruits in the country. The game will be televised live by NBC on Jan. 3, with the kickoff scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific time.
