Parker Flynn made a 43-yard field goal with two seconds left to lift Orange Lutheran to a 24-21 victory over Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium, setting off a wild celebration and giving the Lancers (8-2, 4-1) a share of the Trinity League title alongside the Monarchs (8-2, 4-1).

Servite (6-3, 3-1) could pull into a three-way tie atop the league standings if it defeats St. John Bosco on Friday.

The Monarchs seemingly had the momentum after Jaron Hytche scored his second touchdown on a four-yard run to make it 21-21 with 6:34 left. Mater Dei forced Lutheran to punt on its next possession, and Monarchs quarterback Matt Barkley connected with Ario Winston for a 34-yard gain to move the ball into Lancers territory.

But Lutheran’s Kyle Dravis intercepted Barkley’s next pass at the Lancers’ 29-yard line and Lutheran moved down field for the winning field goal.

Despite some moments of brilliance, it was a disappointing night for Barkley, who completed seven of 16 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown. He is 87 yards short of tying Todd Marinovich’s Orange County career passing record of 9,182 yards.
