The two teams traded touchdowns in the first two drives. Servite started things off with a 25-yard touchdown run from Friars running back Gregory Portis at the 7:54 mark. The Braves responded at the 4:35 mark with a 30-yard touchdown reception from wide receiver Leon McFadden.

The Friars answered with quarterback Cody Farjardo’s one-yard touchdown run with 45 seconds left for a 14-7 lead. It capped a 13-play, 68-yard drive in 3:49.

Servite depended heavily on its running game, thanks to Portis’ game-breaking speed. Portis ran in seven of the Friars’ 10 plays for 66 yards in their opening drive. So far, he’s had 11 carries for 82 yards.
