Football: Tartans move up win-streak charts

After teams in Mississippi and Tennessee lost in the last 24 hours, St. Margaret’s now has the fifth-longest active winning streak in the nation (fourth among 11-man schools).

Batesville (Miss.) South Panola won 89 straight games, the longest active streak in the country and third-longest ever, before falling to Meridian in overtime in the Mississippi 5A title game last night. Maryville (Tenn.) saw its 74-game win streak come to an end this afternoon, dropping a 10-7 decision to Hillsboro in the Tennessee 4A championship game.
