Live blog: Franklin up 8-3 in City Invitational final

Franklin answered Arleta’s field goal with an impressive drive, capped by an 18-yard touchdown pass from Adrian Diaz to Enrique Macias, to take the lead in tonight’s City Invitational final at East Los Angeles College.

Arleta was offside on the extra-point try, moving the ball a yard and a half closer, so the Panthers elected to run and Macias broke the plane of the goal line to make the score 8-3 Franklin with 11:03 left in the second quarter.

The Mustangs returned the ensuing kickoff close to midfield and, after two first downs on pass completions, have the ball just outside Franklin’s 30-yard line.
