Esperanza coach Bill Pendleton has resigned, but will stay with the team as an assistant coach, reports Dan Albano of the Orange County Register.

Pendleton told the Register that ‘the stuff I enjoy the most is not the head coach stuff anymore’ as a reason for deciding to become the team’s offensive line coach.

Pendleton posted a 53-20 overall record in his six years at the helm for Esperanza. Last fall, the Aztecs finished 8-4 after losing to Southern Section Division I champions Long Beach Poly in the quarterfinals.
