Boys’ basketball: Here come the Hearlihys

Harvard-Westlake girls’ basketball Coach Melissa Hearlihy is going to be spending lots of time as a spectator in the coming years, because she’s got a pair of sons who definitely are going to make an impact on the court.

Josh Hearlihy, a 6-foot-4 freshman at Harvard-Westlake, is averaging 15 points for the freshman team and figures to be a varsity contributor next season. He can shoot and he’s got lots of basketball knowledge, having grown up watching his mother coach.

Then there’s 8-year-old Kyle, a third-grader who’s already 4-9 and could be 6-8, 260 pounds. ‘He said the other day, ‘I don’t know if I want to be a professional football player or professional basketball player,’ ‘ said Bill Hearlihy, the father.
