Encino Crespi keeps coming close to knocking off the top two teams in the Mission League, but the young Celts will have to wait for the Southern Section playoffs to prove they’ve learned something.

On Friday, Crespi came back from a 16-point deficit but was beaten by Harvard-Westlake, 81-79, despite 26 points from 6-foot-3 sophomore Matt Mounier and 21 points from junior Blake Stanton. On Wednesday, Crespi lost to Loyola, 69-67.

Harvard-Westlake and Loyola share first place, with Crespi in third place. All three schools figure to challenge for section titles in separate divisions.
