It was a split decision for a pair of Orange County heavyweights this morning at the Nike Extravaganza.

Los Alamitos, ranked No. 7 in the Southland by The Times, escaped with a 53-47 victory over Servite. But No. 12 Sonora, which had its 18-game winning streak snapped by rival La Habra earlier this week, suffered a 68-60 overtime setback against Colony for its second defeat in its last three games.

Evan Brooks had 17 points and Dennis Craig 15 for Colony (19-6), which outscored Sonora, 8-0, in overtime. Colony prevailed despite making only three of 16 three-point attempts. Christopher Bearden had 28 points and 15 rebounds for Sonora (22-3), which continued to struggle without injured forward Marcus Farrand.
