Top-ranked Mater Dei avoided a collapse and held on for a 73-61 victory over St. Benedict’s Prep, the No. 2 team in the USA Today rankings, in the featured game of the Nike Extravaganza.
David Wear had 18 points and Tyler Lamb had 17 for the Monarchs (24-0), who remained undefeated. Tavon Sledge had 17 points for St. Benedict’s (19-2).
