Campbell Hall just isn’t getting any breaks on the injury front.

After getting starters Austin McBroom and Keegan Hornbuckle back this week, the Vikings lost fifth starter Nick Bayz on Friday against Cerritos Valley Christian. The senior guard hit his head on the floor after taking a charge, prompting a 45-minute delay as medical personnel attended to him.

Bayz was taken to a hospital, where a CAT scan came out negative, but his return is undetermined, Coach Terry Kelly said.

With Hornbuckle in only his second game back and McBroom in only his third game back Saturday, Campbell Hall, ranked No. 25 in the Southland by The Times, was shredded by Orange Lutheran, 84-62, in the Nike Extravaganza.

‘It’s tough to not have them for three weeks and then come back and everyone’s roles change again,’ said Kelly, whose team went 2-5 without its pair of starters. ‘We’re still struggling to find the rhythm we had in early January.’

James Douglas scored 23 points for Lutheran (22-4) and James Johnson had 26 for Campbell Hall (17-7). Hornbuckle had six points and McBroom five for the Vikings.

‘That’s a good team we just beat,’ Lutheran Coach Chris Nordstrom said.
