Boys’ basketball: Westchester has 12-point halftime lead

Junior guard Jordin Mayes is raining three-pointers on Seattle Rainier Beach, making four of five attempts from long range, to lead Westchester to a 34-22 halftime lead over the Vikings this afternoon in the Nike Extravaganza.

Mayes has 14 points and junior forward Reggie Murphy has seven points for the Comets, who shot 42.3% to Rainier Beach’s 24.2% in the opening 16 minutes. Corey Stern has eight points for the Vikings, who were outscored, 19-8, in the second quarter.
