Just days before the official start of practice in high school baseball, Oak Park’s program has been turned into turmoil after the resignation of Coach Chris Sale and his top assistant under pressure from the school’s new administration.

Sale gave the news to parents at a meeting on Thursday. On Friday, Principal Andi Mallen confirmed Sale’s resignation and the hiring of junior varsity coach D.J. Cook to replace Sale. She said she will be talking to parents next week but refused to discuss ‘personnel issues.’
