Boys’ basketball: Fairfax holds on without Sidney

Venice, showing that it might be a factor in the City Section Division II playoffs, gave Fairfax a scare Friday, losing, 56-53, in a Western League regular-season finale.

Fairfax (23-3, 11-1) played without center Renardo Sidney, who cut his finger and required stitches. Solomon Hill scored 23 points and had 12 rebounds for Fairfax. Jordan Weathers added 10 points.

Venice (13-13, 6-6) received 16 points from Isaiah Todd.
