Chris Amezquita, a freshman infielder from Anaheim Servite, hit a pinch-hit two-run home run in his first collegiate at-bat for UCLA on Friday during the Bruins’ season-opening 13-1 victory over UC Davis. Former Pasadena Poly standout Rob Rasmussen threw five shutout innings while allowing two hits.

Today at 2 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Stadium, former Orange Lutheran pitcher Gerrit Cole, a freshman, makes his collegiate debut for UCLA after deciding not to sign with the New York Yankees when he was the 28th choice overall in the June draft.
