Transfers D’Andre Daniels and Bryce Jones, playing for Taft’s junior varsity team because they won’t gain varsity eligibility until next season, had big showings for the Toreadors today during a 79-58 playoff victory over Granada Hills.

Jones, a 6-foot-5 junior from View Park Prep, scored 15 points in two quarters and Daniels, a 6-8 junior from Renaissance Prep, scored 11 points in two quarters. Taft led 47-17 at halftime.

‘They would be varsity starters and stars for us,’ Taft Coach Derrick Taylor said. ‘They’re too good for JVs but they have to get the rust off.’

Also today, Fairfax upset defending JV champion Westchester in another playoff game.
