Once a Southern California basketball powerhouse that produced the likes of Byron Scott and Elden Campbell, Inglewood Morningside fell on hard times but has resurrected itself under the guidance of Coach Donnell Meekins, advancing to tonight’s Southern Section Division V-AA championship game against Pacific Hills at 4:30 p.m. at Ontario Colony.

The Monarchs (23-8), located down the street from the Forum, are making their first championship appearance since 1997. They have been led by an outstanding guard duo in A.J. Harris and Justin Rice.

They’ll be facing a tough task because Pacific Hills has its own outstanding guard in Derick Flowers.
