King scored the final nine points of the third quarter to take a 41-35 lead over top-seeded Mater Dei in the Division I-AA championship this evening at the Honda Center.

The Wolves trailed, 35-32, when Chris Harriel made a floater to pull them to within a point. Forward Tony Snell made a three-pointer from the corner and Taylor Cunningham a layup. Then Kawhi Leonard blocked a shot and made a terrific outlet pass to J.J. Campbell, whose layup at the buzzer gave King a six-point lead, its biggest of the game.

King is seeking its second consecutive section title and Mater Dei its first since 2006. The Monarchs are undefeated and the top-ranked team in the country according to USA Today.
