Ontario Colony recovered from a six-point deficit to take a 35-34 lead at halftime over Moreno Valley Canyon Springs in the Division I-A championship game at Santa Ana Mater Dei High.

Canyon Spring’s full-court press flustered Colony, forcing 10 turnovers. Cougar senior guard Tre’Shonti Nottingham had six steals.

Junior guard Amber Smith scored 19 points for Canyon Springs. Senior center Camile Buckly scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds and junior guard Te’onna Campbell had 11 for Colony.

Colony went on a 12-5 run late in the second quarter after Canyon Springs kept fouling even though it had no fouls left to give.
