Girls’ basketball: Inglewood wins Division III title

Inglewood used a big third-quarter surge to pull away and defeat Marlborough, 74-57, this morning in the Southern California Division III championship.

The Lady Sentinels outscored the Mustangs, 22-12, to increase a seven-point halftime lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. Senior guard Makeda Beadle had 15 points and 10 rebounds and junior guard Hazel Ramirez and senior forward Renee Golliday had 14 points apiece for Inglewood, which advanced to the state title game next week in Sacramento.

Senior center Talia Caldwell scored 24 points on seven-for-13 shooting for Marlborough and was the only Mustangs player to score in double figures.
