Girls’ basketball: Over and out for Mater Dei?

It hasn’t been a good week for the basketball teams from Mater Dei.

The top-seeded, top-ranked and undefeated boys’ team loses twice in four days and its season is over.

Now the top-seeded, top-ranked and undefeated girls’ team is suddenly looking a little shaky. Second-seeded Brea Olinda leads Mater Dei, 21-14, at halftime today in the Southern California Division II regional championship at Pauley Pavilion.

Junior guard Kelsey Harris has seven points and sophomore forward Justine Hartman six points for the Wildcats.

Sophomore guard Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis has three points on one-for-seven shooting for Mater Dei, which has 16 turnovers to only six for Brea Olinda.
