Arman Mercado will return as boys’ volleyball coach at Woodland Hills Taft on Friday after spending weeks reassigned while the Los Angeles Unified School District conducted an investigation into alleged hazing incidents at the school, interim Taft Principal Roger Smith said Thursday.

Smith said Mercado, another coach, principal Sharon Thomas and two administrators also have been cleared to resume their jobs at Taft. They were reassigned to a district office while the investigation took place.

Mercado has been considered one of the top coaches in boys’ and girls’ volleyball in the City Section.
