SACRAMENTO--After trailing by as many as 25 points in the third quarter, Inglewood cut the deficit to single digits in the final minute but could come no closer during a 71-62 loss to St. Mary’s in the Division III championship this afternoon at Arco Arena.

The Lady Sentinels rattled off a 10-0 run early in the fourth quarter and made it 68-59 with 33 seconds left on a three-point play by Tayler Champion. But the Rams held on to win their fifth state title and first since 2004.

Champion had 21 points for Inglewood, which was making its first appearance in a title game.
