Former Newhall Hart pitcher Trevor Bauer decided to skip his senior year because he needed more challenges and thought he was ready for college baseball.

On Wednesday, Bauer, a freshman at UCLA, turned in the longest starting stint by a Bruins pitcher this season, striking out eight in eight innings as UCLA defeated Pepperdine, 7-2.

Bauer is 2-3 overall and also has two saves. His teammates at Hart might miss him, but UCLA would be in bad shape without him considering his many contributions so far.
