Boys’ basketball: Westchester, Taft agree to play

Three cheers for Taft Coach Derrick Taylor and Westchester Coach Ed Azzam for deciding they want their teams to get better and to do that, they think they should play each other.

So Taft and Westchester, the likely City Section title favorites next season, have agreed to play in their first scrimmage, according to Taylor.

‘We want to test each other,’ Taylor said.

Westchester won the state Division I championship and returns four starters. Taft lost to the Comets in the City Division I final and should have an outstanding team.
