Baseball: Renner, Wilson each strike out 13 in City games

Left-hander Mike Renner of Chatsworth continues to be the best pitcher in the City Section. On Wednesday, he struck out 13 and walked none in the Chancellors’ 3-1 West Valley League victory over Birmingham.
Renner improved to 4-0 as Chatsworth (11-1, 3-0) stayed even with Cleveland (9-2, 3-0) for first place.
Cleveland’s John Wilson matched Renner with 13 strikeouts and no walks in a 13-2 victory over Granada Hills. Niko Garcia went four for five with a home run.
El Camino Real (8-4, 1-2) defeated Taft, 9-1, with Michael Booth throwing a three-hitter. Chris Whitmer had three hits and three RBI, including a home run.
