Baseball: Mater Dei advances to National Classic semifinals

Aaron Northcraft threw six shutout innings and Derek Campbell hit his second home run in as many days to help Santa Ana Mater Dei (14-2) advance to the semifinals of the Anderson Bat National Classic with a 7-0 victory over Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep.

Mater Dei will play Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. at Cal State Fullerton in a semifinal game against Esperanza, which defeated San Jose Archbishop Mitty, 10-3.

In another quarterfinal game, Palm Beach (Fla.) Central defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 7-6.
