Football: Bill Redell turns 68 today

Happy birthday to Bill Redell, the enduring, funny and always successful football coach at Westlake Village Oaks Christian, who turns 68 today.
Redell got a late start into high school coaching, waiting until he was 41 to become coach at Encino Crespi in 1982. But what a record he has produced, winning a Big Five Conference championship for the Celts in 1986, then coaching at La Canada St. Francis and starting the program at Oaks Christian, which has won six consecutive section titles.
He should have one of his best teams ever this coming season. Whether he keeps coaching after 2009 is a big question, but he has made a lasting impact.
