Baseball: Matzek is ESPN RISE magazine cover boy

Capistrano Valley pitcher Tyler Matzek, one of the top high school prospects in the country, is being featured on the April cover of ESPN RISE magazine.

The accompanying story details Matzek’s pitching prowess and his battle with a virus that forced him to miss six games last season.

The left-hander has signed with Oregon but could be one of the first players taken in the June amateur draft.

Matzek will pitch for the Cougars on Wednesday afternoon against host Dana Hills in a battle of teams tied with Tesoro atop the South Coast League.
