Baseball: Garcia’s home run lifts Cleveland

Niko Garcia’s three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning off Alex Mejia broke a 6-6 tie and lifted Reseda Cleveland to an 11-8 victory over Woodland Hills El Camino Real, enabling the Cavaliers (17-4, 7-1) to stay tied for first place with Chatsworth in the West Valley League.

Chatsworth defeated Granada Hills, 4-2, with Sean O’Connell going two for two. Andrew Klausmeier threw 2 2/3 innings of shutout relief, striking out four.

Cleveland overcame deficits of 2-0, 5-3 and 6-5. Garcia finished with three hits and Juan Perez had two hits. Travis Keppel had three hits, including a home run, for El Camino Real (15-7, 4-4), which also got a home run from Alex DeLeon.

David Carver pitched the final five innings for Cleveland to pick up the win.
