Newbury Park High closed its campus this afternoon and canceled all athletic competitions scheduled this week under orders from the Ventura County Department of Public Health because of a ‘probable’ case of the swine flu, according to assistant principal Richard Urias.

The Marmonte League has scheduled an emergency meeting of its athletic directors for Tuesday morning to discuss what to do about the absence of Newbury Park athletes. The league is holding swimming and track finals this week besides playing baseball, softball and volleyball events.

Urias said the school could be shut down until next Monday.
