You’d have to go to the college level to find a football team with better receivers than the Gardena Serra trio of Robert Woods, Paul Richardson Jr. and George Farmer.

All three have scholarship offers from top NCAA Divison I programs. Richardson, a transfer from Los Alamitos, is committed to UCLA.

About the only person more excited than Serra Coach Scott Altenberg is the team’s new quarterback, Conner Preston, a transfer from Palisades. Suddenly, he’s the envy of many quarterbacks in the Southland.

Serra, however, competes in the same playoff division as Westlake Village Oaks Christian, and Altenberg admits he doesn’t think Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell is going to lose any sleep over Serra’s receivers.

But if all goes as expected and Serra plays Oaks Christian this fall in its division championship game, that’s going to be a fun game to watch.
