It’s a gorgeous sunny day at UCLA and top-seeded San Pedro is about to face off against sixth-seeded Wilmington Banning for the City Section softball championship.

This is not the first time that these two teams have competed in a title game. In 2006 San Pedro defeated Wilmington Banning, 5-0, and Banning Coach Rudy Aguirre is hungry for revenge.

‘I think that this year, compared to the last time we played here, we are a lot more relaxed,’ he said.

Even though San Pedro swept Banning in the three games they played this season, San Pedro Coach Tony Dobra admitted to feeling some pre-game jitters.

‘I’m nervous; if I didn’t feel nervous, I wouldn’t be human,’ he said. ‘It’s a good kind of nervous.’
