Mater Dei had runners on first and second with two outs in the fifth inning against sophomore pitcher Henry Owens. At the plate was Cory Hahn, the Mater Dei hitter who connected on two home runs last week against Norco’s Matt Hobgood.

The count went to 3-and-2. Owens decided to throw a curveball, and Hahn let it pass without swinging. It was called for strike three, Owens’ ninth strikeout of the night and the third for Hahn. Edison holds a 1-0 lead in the Division I semifinal entering the bottom of the fifth.
