It might seem as safe as betting on a team that holds a three-games-to-none lead in a best-of-seven series, but Crenshaw Coach David Frierson said there’s no one capable of beating L.A. Cathedral’s Randall Carroll in the 100 meters this evening.

You might think Frierson would give a plug to Cougars sophomore DeAnthony Thomas, who will compete against Carroll in the event, but the coach gave the nod to Carroll.

‘He’s a man running against boys,’ Frierson said.

Frierson said Thomas’ best event may prove to be the 400, an event he is not competing in this year. Thomas is only 15 and is still feeling out his strengths on the track.

‘He just looks like his best race is possibly the 400,’ Frierson said.
