Baseball: Paramount advances to Legion championship game

Paramount defeated El Segundo, 7-6, in nine innings Friday to advance to Sunday’s Long Beach American Legion playoffs championship game.

Update: Paramount will play Long Beach Wilson at 4 p.m. Sunday at home. Wilson defeated El Segundo, 12-9, Saturday. Paramount must be beaten twice on Sunday. The champion will advance to the state playoffs in Yountville July 25-28.

Shortstop Mark Silva led Paramount with four hits in five at-bats, including two triples. He scored the winning run in the ninth on the third hit of the game by Jose Lopez.
