Boys’ basketball: Gathers is staying at Loyola

All summer, the rumors have been floating that starting senior guard Jordan Gathers would be leaving Los Angeles Loyola. The fact he hasn’t played for the Cubs added to the intrigue.

But Gathers said earlier this week he intends to stay at Loyola. He is playing for a travel team this week in Las Vegas.

Of course, Loyola fans won’t find out for sure until the first day of classes for the new semester.

But getting Gathers back would help make the Cubs a very tough team to beat. He’s an excellent shooter, has lots of experience and plays well when the game is on the line.
