JSerra has hired Julie Swail-Ertel, a two-sport Olympian who has competed in women’s water polo and triathlon, to direct its aquatics program.
Lions CEO Frank Talarico described the hiring as ‘an incredible coup.’ Swail-Ertel was captain of the 2000 silver-medal-winning women’s water polo team at the Sydney Olympics and competed for the U.S. triathlon squad last summer in Beijing, finishing 19th.
‘I look forward to sharing my knowledge with the outstanding scholar-athletes at JSerra and preparing as many as possible for collegiate careers,’ Swail-Ertel said.
JSerra continues a meteoric rise in athletics, with the six-year-old school winning its first Trinity League championships last year in boys’ soccer, baseball and boys’ lacrosse.
‘I predict we’ll soon be adding water polo and swimming to the list,’ Swail-Ertel said.
