Jeremy Sanchez, a promising sophomore expected to help ease the loss of receiving depth at St. Bonaventure, was recently lost for the season after breaking a leg in practice.

It’s a big blow for a team that must replace its top six receivers .

‘Based on his fall camp, he was going to have a huge season,’ Coach Todd Therrien said of Sanchez. ‘He was going to be amazing.’

Fortunately, the Seraphs still feature talent aplenty in quarterback Logan Meyer, running back Devon Blackledge and USC-bound offensive lineman Giovanni DiPoala.

St. Bonaventure, ranked No. 4 in the Southland by The Times, opens its season Friday at St. John Bosco.
