Mira Costa has started both of its drives in Loyola territory, and the Mustangs cashed in on their second opportunity when quarterback Kyle Demarco floated a perfectly placed 45-yard strike to receiver Kyle Nunn for a touchdown midway through the first quarter.

Loyola has hurt itself with penalties, committing three consecutive infractions at one point on its first drive. Star running back Anthony Barr had 19 yards in his first four carries.
